Recipe for Pongal Rice

This is a most simple Recipe for preparing the famous and popular Pongal Rice. A delicious main course rice preparation; this is an authentic and traditional recipe from Kerala.

1 Cup Rice
½ Cup Green gram dal without husk
5 ½ Cup Water
2 Green Chilies (chopped)
4 Table spoon Ghee/Oil
Salt to taste
1 Teaspoon Cumin and 1 Tea spoon Pepper Corms (crushed)

Clean Rice and Dal and place in the cooker with water. Add Salt, Chilies and Ginger. Heat Ghee in a frying pan and fry cumin and pepper for ½ minutes and mix it with Rice.
