Recipe for Chicken Pickle

This is a great recipe for preparing at home spicy and delicious Indian Style Chicken Pickle, known in Hindi as Murgh Ka Achar and Kombdi Che Lonche in Marathi. This durable Chicken Pickle has a unique distinct mouthwatering taste and flavor and tastes equally great with rotis or rice.

Preparation Time: 60 Minutes
Serves: 3 Kgs

2 kg chicken [cleaned and jointed]
½ kg onion
120 grams garlic
200 grams ginger
50 grams red chilies
1 table spoon poppy seeds
½ kg mustard oil
Some ratanjote flakes [alkanet Root]
½ table spoon mixed spice powder
2 table spoon turmeric powder
1 small bottle vinegar
2 table spoon salt

Grind to a paste the onions, garlic, ginger, poppy seeds and red chilies along with a little vinegar oil.
Then heat the oil and fry ratanjote flakes and then discard them.
In the same oil fry the ground paste until it turns golden brown.
Then add the chicken pieces and cook them until the water from the chicken dries up.
Then add the rest of the ingredients along with rest of the vinegar.
Cook on a slow flame till the oil floats to the top.
Then cool and keep in a bottle.
