Spicy Maharashtrian Style Mutton Keema

This is a Recipe for preparing at home authentic Spicy Maharashtrian Style Mutton Keema, a spicy and tasty Keema recipe using a special Maharashtrian Garam Masala.

Also included in this article is the Marathi recipe for the same dish known in MarathI as Khamang Mutton Keema.

Preparation Time: 60 Minutes
Serves: 4 Persons

250 Gram Mutton Keema
1 Onion Big size (chopped)
1 Tomato Medium Size (chopped)
1 Tablespoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
¼ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 Egg (boiled)
Salt as per taste
1 Table spoon Oil

For the Masala
½ Tablespoon Oil
1 Onion Small size (chopped)
½ Cup Coconut (grated)
½ Table spoon Red Kashmiri Chili Powder
1 Teaspoon Garam Masala

Khamang Mutton Keema

Spicy Maharastrian Style Mutton Keema

For the Masala :- Heat the Oil in a Kadhai and add the Onion, fry for a minute and add the grated Coconut, mix it well and fry for two minutes. Then add the Red Chili Powder, Garam Masala, mix it well and fry for two-three minutes. Grind the Masala to a fine paste.

Wash the Kheema and remove the water with a strainer. Heat the Oil in a pressure cooker and add the Onion, Tomato and fry for two-three minutes and add the Ginger-Garlic Paste, fry for two minutes.
Add the Kheema, Turmeric Powder, Salt and fry for five-minutes on a slow flame. Then add the grounded Masala and glass of Water. Cover the cooker and give 4-5 whistles. The Kheema should be like thick gravy.
Garnish with boiled Egg and Onion and serve hot with Paratha.

खमंग मटण खिमा
साहित्य : २५० ग्राम मटण खिमा, १ मोठा कांदा (बारीक चिरून), १ मध्यम टोमाटो (बारीक चिरून), १ टे स्पून आले-लसूण पेस्ट, १/४ टी स्पून हळद पावडर, १ अंडे (उकडून), मीठ, १ टे स्पून तेल
ग्रेव्ही मसाला : १/२ टे स्पून तेल, १ कांदा छोटा (चिरून), १/२ कप नारळ (खोऊन), १/२ टे स्पून काश्मिरी लाल मिरची पावडर, १ टी स्पून गरम मसाला

कृती : ग्रेवी मसाला : कढई मध्ये तेल गरम करून त्यामध्ये कांदा थोडा भाजून खोवलेला नारळ एक मिनिट भाजून घ्या. मग त्यामध्ये लाल मिरची पावडर घालून एक मिनिट भाजून घ्या व गरम मसाला घालून मिक्स करा. थोडे पाणी घालून मिक्सरमध्ये मसाला बारीक वाटून घ्या.
मटन खिमा धुऊन चाळणी मध्ये निथळत ठेवा. कुकर मध्ये तेल गरम करून कांदा व टोमाटो घालून दोन मिनिट भाजून घ्या. मग आले-लसून पेस्ट घालून परत परतून घ्या. त्यामध्ये खिमा, हळद, मीठ घालून पाच मिनिट मंद विस्तवावर भाजून घ्या मग त्यामध्ये वाटलेला मसाला व ग्लास पाणी घालून मिक्स करा व कुकरचे झाकण लावून ४-५ शिट्या काढाव्यात. ग्रेवी थोडी घट्ट व्हायला पाहिजे.
खिमा सर्व्ह करताना उकडलेल्या अंड्याने सजवा व पराठ्या बरोबर सर्व्ह करा.

    This sounds mouth watering if one goes by the photo of the Keema given by you. Marathi non-veg dishes are really hot and spicy and the Keema given by you is certainly a spicy Marathi speciality.

    Keema looks Yummy, I am going to try this recipe at home, hope I get it exactly as you have written in the article.
    I hope this recipe also works for Chicken Keema, as I find Chicken Keema Better and more tasty than Mutton Keema.
