Taje Hirvya Harbaryachi Usal

This is a Recipe for Fresh Green Chickpeas Usal (Taje Hirvya Harbaryachi Usal), a specialty Maaharshtrian Usal dish from the Konkan region of Maharashtra.

1 Cup Harbare
1 Table spoon Onion (chopped)
1 Table spoon Coconut (grated)
1 Table spoon Coriander
1 Kokam
Salt as per taste

For the Tadka

½ Table spoon Oil
½ Tea spoon Mustard Seeds
½ Tea spoon Cumin Seeds
½ Tea spoon Garlic
¼ Tea spoon Asafoetida
¼ Tea spoon Turmeric Power
½ Tea spoon Red Chili Powder
¼ Tea spoon Garam Masala

Cook the Green Chickpeas (Harbare) in a pressure cooker by giving 3 whistles.
Heat the Kadhai and add the Oil, Mustard Seeds, Cumin Seeds, Garlic, Asafoetida, Onion and fry for two minutes then add the Turmeric Powder, Red Chili Powder. Garam Masala, cooked Harbare and mix it well.
Add one fourth cup of Water and cook for five minutes on a slow flame. Then add the grated Coconut, Coriander, and Kokam and mix it well.
Serve hot with Chapatti.
