This is uncommon step-by-step Chicken recipe to prepare at home delicious thick Peanut Butter flavored Chicken Gravy or Mungfali Makhan ki Murgh.
The addition of Peanut Butter or Mungfali Makhan as it is called in Hindi gives this Indian Style Chicken Gravy that rich taste and flavor.
Tastes equally great with Rice, Paratha or Puri. The Mungfali Makhan ki Murgh is also a great main course Chicken dish for most parties.
1 kg dressed chicken
1 table spoon oil
1 large onion diced
3 green onions sliced
1 large tomato diced
2 table spoon tomato paste
3 cups chicken broth
½ cup peanut butter
1 tea spoon salt
½ table spoon chili powder
1 bay leaf
Cut the chicken into medium size pieces and then wipe them dry.
Then heat the oil and add the chicken pieces and fry them till brown.
Then add the onions, green onions, tomato and tomato paste and cook for about 2 minutes.
Then add the chicken broth and allow to cook with a lid on for about 10 minutes.
Then reduce the heat and stir in the peanut butter [diluted with 3 to 4 cups of warm water to make a thick pouring consistency].
Then add the salt, chili powder and bay leaf.
Simmer till the chicken is soft and a thick gravy remains.
Serve hot with rice or chapatti.
