Recipe for Karichi Vatli Dal

This is a Recipe for preparing Karichi Vatli Dal. This is a famous traditional Maharashtrian specialty dish. This dish is prepared using Kairi [raw mango] and Chana Dal as the main ingredients.

Preparation Time: 15 Minutes
Serves: 4 Persons

1 Cup Gram Dal (Chana Dal)
2 Green Chili paste
Salt & Sugar to taste
½ Cup Raw Mango (Shredded)
½ Cup Coconut (shredded) & Coriander leaves

For Tadka
¼ Cup Oil
1 Tea spoon Rai
1 Tea spoon Hing
¼ Tea spoon Turmeric

Soak the Dal for 5-6 hours. After that drain the water to make a thick paste. Then mix the Green chili, Salt, Sugar, Raw Mango, Coconut & Coriander with the Dal paste.
Heat the Oil and add Rai, Hing & Turmeric to prepare the Tadka.
Add the Tadka to the Dal mixture. The Karichi Vatli Dalis ready.
