Recipe for Upma

This is a recipe for Upma. This dish is very popular in Maharashtra and is also called as Upit in the Marathi language. It is normally taken for breakfast or as an afternoon snack or for Kitty Parties and Birthday Parties.

Preparation Time: 30 Minutes
Serves: 4 Persons

Ingredients
2 Cup Suji / Rava
4 Cup Hot water
1 Big Onion (Cut in small pieces)
2 Green Chilies (Cut big size pieces)
½ Cup Coriander
1 table spoon Chana Dal
Salt to taste
Ghee (Suji fry for 5 minutes on slow sim)
1 Table spoon Lemon juice

For Tadka
1 ½ Table spoon Oil
1 Tea spoon Rai
1 Tea spoon Jeera
7-8 leaves Kadipatta

Preparation
First fry Suji for 5 minutes on slow sim and keep aside.
Heat the oil in frying pan make tadka, add Chana Dal, chopped Onion & Chilies, fry the Onion till color changes to brown. Add Salt, Suji, and lemon juice fry for 2 minutes on slow sim. Add hot water, cover the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes on slow sim. Remove from fire and serve hot, decorate with coriander.

Note: You can use Carrot or Green Peas instead of Chana Dal.
