Recipe for Fried Modak

This is a step by step for Recipe for preparing the famous and popular Fried Modak, called as Talele Modak in Marathi. This dish is prepared specially during the annual Ganesh festival in Maharashtra.

Preparation Time: 60 Minutes
Serves: 21 Nos

Ingredients
2 Medium size Coconuts (Shredded)
2 Cups Jaggery or 2 Cups Sugar
Green Cardamom powder of 5 to 6 Cardamoms
1 Cup Maida
1 Cup Rawa (Suji)
Salt to taste
¼ Cup Dry fruits (Almond, Cashew nuts Cut in small pieces and Kismis [Raisins])
3 table spoon Hot Oil
Ghee or Oil for deep frying

Preparation
First take the Maida and Suji and then the add Salt and 3 table spoon hot oil and mix it well with some Milk or water to make a Dough, keep aside for one hour.
Then take the shredded Coconut, Jaggery or Sugar and mix it well and cook till dry, then add the green Cardamom powder and dry fruits and mix it well and keep aside.
Then prepare 21 balls from the Dough and make small size Puris with 5 to 6 folds at the edges. Put 1 spoon of coconut mixture inside the Puri and press all the folds together to prepare a Modak
Heat the Ghee or Oil and deep fry the Modaks on a slow sim till color changes in to light brown.
