This Recipe is for Nizami Chicken. This is an exotic main course dish from Hyderabad.
1 Large Chicken (cut into Pieces)
½ Tea spoon Turmeric powder
½ Tea spoon Salt
¼ Tea spoon Pepper
8 Green Cardamoms
6 cloves Garlic
2.5 Cm. piece Cinnamon
5 cm piece Ginger
6 Pepper Corns
½ Tea spoon Chili Powder
1 Table spoon Coriander seeds
3 Table spoon Ghee for cooking
2 large Onions (chopped fine)
1 Coconut (grated)
Apply the first three Ingredients to the Chicken pieces after pricking them with fork prongs. Set aside for 20 minutes.
Grind to a paste all the ingredients from Cardamoms to Coriander seeds.
Heat 3 Table spoon Ghee and fry the chopped Onion till golden brown.
Add the chicken and masala and fry again till the Ghee separates.
Add 2 cups of coconut milk (made after mixing the coconut with warm water) and simmer till the chicken is done. Remove from fire and serve hot with boiled rice.
